# Hope City Church

> Hope City Church is a bilingual, Apostolic Pentecostal church in Providence, Rhode Island. It gathers for Sunday worship at 5 pm at 372 Wayland Avenue, Providence, RI 02906. The church is led by Pastors Joshua and Holly Smith and strives to be an authentic community where everyone can find refuge and hope from a lost and broken world, be renewed by the power of God, and be equipped to share the Gospel with the world.

## About

Hope City Church was founded with a vision to bring hope back to Providence. The church welcomes people regardless of background, appearance, or life history, and invites everyone to encounter God in a genuine, Spirit-filled environment.

**Mission:** Be authentic. Be renewed. Be hope.

The church strives to be an authentic community where everyone can find refuge and hope, be renewed by the power of God, and be equipped to share the Gospel with the world.

**Vision:** Hope City is building toward a church that is:
- Multigenerational: uniting older and younger generations in worship and wisdom
- Multicultural: reflecting Providence's diversity of 100+ nationalities
- Multilingual: currently bilingual in English and Spanish, with plans to expand
- Multisited: reaching into every neighborhood through home groups and multiple campuses

## Pastors

**Pastor Joshua Smith** — Josh teaches in a way that everyone can understand and has a background as an English as a Second Language teacher working with newcomers to the United States. He is passionate about developing a multicultural congregation.

**Pastor Holly Smith** — Holly brings authenticity and care to every relationship and is skilled in marketing, writing, video, web, and storytelling. She counsels without judgment and helps people feel genuinely known.

## Beliefs

- **The Bible:** God's Word; accurate, authoritative, and applicable to everyday life.
- **God:** One eternal God revealed as Father, Son (Jesus Christ), and Holy Spirit. Jesus is God manifested in flesh.
- **Salvation:** Requires repentance, faith in Jesus Christ, water baptism in Jesus' name, and being filled with the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues.
- **Christian living:** Loving God and others wholeheartedly, making disciples, pursuing holiness, and exercising spiritual gifts including healing, miracles, and faith.
- **The future:** Jesus Christ will return. Eternal destination is determined by one's response to Him.

## Gatherings

- **Sundays at 5 pm** — 372 Wayland Avenue, Providence, RI 02906 (worship and preaching)

Visitors are encouraged to save a seat in advance so the team can make their first visit special. Pastors also meet newcomers for coffee at a local café.
